Horrors of Deadly Corona virus (COVID-19)

We have seen so many posts mentioning about corona virus and how can we stay away from this noob virus but no one mentioned from where this outbreak begins.

My main motive is to spread awareness through this article, not only about corona virus. We humans are calling upon the doomsday ourselves. Before discussing the nature of Corona Virus, let me tell you this, there was a time when paracetamol cured most of the bacterial disease, and now? A person only catches chickenpox once his entire life but what about now?

I myself am a student of biotech and this is a fact even if you consider it or not, we ourselves are making all these diseases resistant to the medicines. These bacterial diseases develop a mutation in its genes and get resistant to its new environment, just like how we adapt ourselves to the new environment. You guys must have heard about the word evolution. Evolution is the process by which different kinds of living organisms are believed to have developed from earlier forms.

It’s just like the updated version of its previous outdated form with new features that can help it to live in its new environment.

Corona Virus

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV) and Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) are two highly transmissible and pathogenic viruses that emerged in humans at the beginning of the 21st century. Both viruses likely originated in bats, and genetically diverse coronaviruses that are related to SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV were discovered in bats worldwide.

Coronaviruses are basically named for the crown-like spikes on their surface. There are four main sub-groupings of coronaviruses, known as alpha, beta, gamma, and delta.

Human coronaviruses were first identified in the mid-1960s. The seven coronaviruses that can infect people are:

Replication of Corona Virus

Corona Virus

Common human coronaviruses

Corona virus
  1. 229E (alpha coronavirus)
  2. NL63 (alpha coronavirus)
  3. OC43 (beta coronavirus)
  4. HKU1 (beta coronavirus)

Other human coronaviruses

  1. MERS-CoV (the beta coronavirus that causes Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, or MERS)
  2. SARS-CoV (the beta coronavirus that causes a severe acute respiratory syndrome, or SARS)
  3. SARS-CoV-2 (the novel coronavirus that causes coronavirus disease 2019, or COVID-19)

People get commonly infected with human corona viruses 229E, NL63, OC43, and HKU1.

Sometimes coronaviruses that infect animals can evolve and make people sick and become a new human coronavirus. Three recent examples of this are 2019-nCoV, SARS-CoV, and MERS-CoV.
Now we can clearly say that evolution can not always be beneficial to mankind.

Transmission of corona virus

According to current researches (COVID-19) spreads is based on the transmission of other strain of corona virus. This is a new disease and there is more to learn about how it spreads, the severity of illness it causes.

The mode of transmission is through direct contact.

  • Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 5-6 feet).
  • Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

These droplets may be inhaled by the people nearby and are likely infected.

You have to follow these 5 precautions in order to stay away from this virus

  • The transmission of the virus is through direct contact so wash your hands thoroughly.
  • Avoid as much as you can from confronting the sick or don’t share any personal belongings with anyone.
  • Cover your mouth with a tissue or a mask while coughing and dispose of it immediately after use.
  • Don’t rub your eyes or ears or nose.
  • Don’t keep your sickness with you for too long. Seek medical attention at once.
  • Note- The masks may not necessarily protect you from this virus so stop panicking and wash your hands off thoroughly and carry out the precautions to ensure safety.

Will the outbreak caused by the new strain of coronavirus fade as the northern hemisphere heats up? This has been suggested by some researchers and repeated by some political leaders, including US President Donald Trump, but we simply don’t know if it is the case.

We absolutely don’t know that,” says Trudie Lang at the University of Oxford. “I keep asking virologist colleagues this and nobody knows.”

So when you hear people say the weather will warm up and it will just disappear, it’s a very unhelpful generalization,” she says.

This is essentially what Trump said on 10 February. “The heat, generally speaking, kills this kind of virus,” he told in a meeting. “ It is believed by a greater deal of people.

Trump isn’t the only politician to make this sort of claim. The UK’s health secretary, Matt Hancock, told ITV reporter Tom Clarke last week that the hope was to slow the spread of the virus so it reaches the UK in spring and summer when coronaviruses, of which the new virus is just a specific example, are less transmissible.

It is thought the virus can survive for up to four days on surfaces. Some researchers, including Paul Hunter at the University of East Anglia, UK, do think the new coronavirus won’t survive for so long in warmer conditions.

Now the thing is that we all may have encountered this virus but the strain of the virus was different so it wasn’t critical. Thanks to the mankind which made this a huge success. We should not take medicines without prescription for a small headache and these small things are paving the way for these outbreaks.
